Class Description

About this class

Since the pandemic, the demand and interest in dance for film has increased exponentially, but support for film making has not. Frog in Hand & onUP are teaming up to change all that.

This Dance on Film Class, led by Colleen Snell and Sid Sawant, covers all you need to grasp the basics of film making for dance. Join us to have fun, get creative and be guided through the process of making a dance film - from concept to creation. Whether you are keen to experiment for artistic reasons, to learn more so you can market your dance studio/company, or you just want to create great content for social media, this class is for you - no prior experience necessary.

You'll leave with new filmmaking skills, a more thorough understanding of filmmaking for dance, what you can do on a shoestring budget, tips to upgrade the quality of your films, and advice on when you need to call in professional film makers for help. Best of all, at the end of the 5 weeks, you'll walk away with your own completed dance film.

The class is an investment of $500 (plus Eventbrite fees), and will run every Wednesday. The class will be held in person, at the AN1 studios in Mississauga. Once you've registered, you can opt in to receive a filmmaking starter kit (light, gimbal), for an additional upgrade fee of $250 (optional).

This class is a co-presentation between Sid Sawant (Founder, CEO onUP Productions film company), and Colleen Snell (Artistic Director, Frog in Hand Productions dance company).
